dc.description.abstract This study aims to analyze determinants that influence the adoption of agent banking in Abay Bank S.C, Branches in Bahir Dar city. The study tried to answer the research questions, how liquidity, security, regulation, competition and Technology affect agent banking adoption? To answer the above question, quantitative study was used to analyze the data gathered from Abay Bank, branches in Bahir Dar city. Various theories which have relation to the adoption of agent banking like innovation theory and agency theory were used. To this end, the research approach and design of this study were quantitative and explanatory study respectively. A questionnaire derived from previous studies and the relevant questions were completed by 130 employees of Abay bank in Bahir Dar city branches. Correlation analysis assessed the relationship between independent and agent banking adoption and multiple regression analysis also assessed the influence of explanatory variables on the dependent variable, agent banking adoption. The findings confirmed that the independent variables (liquidity, security, technology, regulation and competition) have a positive and significant relationship with agent banking adoption in Abay Bank S.C. Moreover, the study explored that there is a positive and significant effect of independent variables on dependent variable. Besides, it was found that competition among the independent variables has the highest effect on agent banking adoption in Abay bank. As well, the study recommended that the bank should conduct technology based competition to widen its customer base by reaching the unbanked society which is the huge untapped opportunity. The regulatory body also has to see the regulation from time to time to control the risk associated with the product and revise points which might have restriction on the process. en_US
