The objective of this study was to investigate the role of authentic extra materials in motivation EFL students’ macro language skills. The study employed descriptive research design and mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis). The participants were selected using simple random sampling technique. In this regard, 48 grade 11 students were randomly selected. The study also included all the three (3) available English language teachers. Observation, questionnaire and interview were used to collect the required data. Observation was carried out using structured checklist. A questionnaire containing closed-ended items was administered to 48 sample students. In addition, Semi-structured interview questions were also held with the English language teachers. Results of the study confirmed that authentic extra materials have a great role in motivating EFL students’ learning. In addition to the above finding, this study revealed that comfortable learning environment and administration of materials are appropriate to enhance the learners’ motivation. Finally, on the basis of the major findings and conclusions reached, recommendations have been made for EFL students, teachers and concerned bodies. |
