Realizing the importance of writing in EFL classroom, teachers are keen in planning various
~trategies that can help students to improve their writing skill. One way of improving students'
writing is teacher written feedback as past studies have showed that both teacher and students
value teecher written feedback in language classroom. However, how can students utilize the
teache/ written feedback was the main question for the researcher. Therefore, the major purpose
sf this study was to explore the utilization of teacher written feedback by the students at Dabat
Higher Education Preparatory School Grade 11 students. To achieve this, the researcher
\mployed a descriptive survey study. The research tools were questionnaire on teacher written
.feedback and students' essay writing paper. The subjects took part in this research were 30
grade 11 'students who were attending their learning at the school. The students invited to
..a nswer the questionnaire relate with the feedback that received from the researcher. Using the essay guideline on grade 11 students textbook, the researcher also gave three writing activities
separately toewrite essay and collected the essay to give feedback He gave the feedback in each
essay writing activities and analyzed them. After the third feedback, the results indicated that.
the teacher written feedback was utilized by the students. And they improved different features of
writing on their essay writing Meanwhile students responded that they were motivated and
enhanced to use the teacher's feedback. This assures that the students used the teacher written
feedback ancJ.improyed their essay writing if it supported by continuous writing activities and
feedback. B1/laed on this, the researcher recommends for teachers to follow up students'
utilization of teacher written feedback and improvement of features of ~riting on the essay. Thif
leads to students become better writers. · |
