Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of organizational culture (OC) on employee
performance with in the mediating role of employee engagement in Amhara National Regional
State Trade and Market Development Bureau. In this survey study, 138 of the employees were
used to collect quantitative and cross-sectional data using the census method. Utilizing
modified structured questionnaires from earlier studies, the pertinent data was gathered, and
the study's design was explanatory. The partial least square-structural equation model (PLSSEM)
version 4 was used to test the hypothesis and SPSS version 26 was also used for
descriptive statistics and correlation test. According to the results of the descriptive statistics,
participants’ levels of agreement with regard to organizational culture, employee engagement,
and employee performance were moderate. Based on the correlation analysis result
organizational culture has a high degree of relationship with employee performance and
employee engagement. Employee engagement has also a high degree of relationship with
employee performance. The results of PLS-SEM confirmed that employee engagement partially
mediates the connection between organizational culture and employee performance and
organizational culture has a significant effect on employee engagement and employee
performance. The finding of this study also showed that employee engagement directly affects
employee performance. This indicated that a strong and successful bureaual culture will
increase employee engagement in order to achieve employee performance and the goals of the
bureau along a shared path. According to this result the study recommended that the
management of Amhara National Regional State Trade and Market Development Bureau
should include employees in the decision-making process, providing welfare for employees,
and making policies that can influence the extent to which employees are involved. Strategic
priority should be given to human development, good self-esteem, candor, and participation.
This will significantly increase employee concentration on their predetermined goals, resulting
in improved performance.
