Abstract:
This study aims to identify organizational culture that is important for the transfer of knowledge
in six selected regional public organizations of Amhara Region. The study deploys explanatory
and cross-sectional design and adopts a quantitative approach. After a literature review, five
key organizational cultures (collaboration, learning & development, management support, trust
and shared vision) were identified as predictors of knowledge transfer. From a total of 1,106
employees in selected six public organizations, 294 were randomly selected and participated in
the study. Primary data was collected via a closed-ended questionnaire. Descriptive, correlation
and multiple regression statistical tools were used to analyze the data and draw conclusions. The
result of this study reveals that knowledge transfer is significantly influenced by collaboration,
learning & development, management support, trust, and shared vision. Management support,
however, generates the highest effect on knowledge transfer performance. Thus, this research
recommended public organizations to give more attention to improve management support
practices. In addition, since organizational elements are complementary and people are the most
important component, public organizations need an integrated and people-centered knowledge
management strategy.
