dc.description.abstract The main objective of the study was to investigate antecedents of stress on job and the effect of job stress on job satisfaction and turnover intention in Oromia Zone Revenue Branch Office (OZRBO). Although, there are a number of antecedents of job stress, the current study, was examined only the six antecedents (work overload, role ambiguity, role conflict, job autonomy relationship at work and physical environment) as the main stressors. For the purpose of this study, the six antecedents were an independent variables; job stress had the nature of both dependent and independent variable. Job satisfaction and turnover intention were treated as dependent variable of the study. Based on the literature review eight hypothesis were formulated. To achieve the objectives of this study, the researcher was used quantitative research approach and correlational research design with inferential statics. Respondents were selected through simple random sampling technique. Data that was gathered through self-administered questionnaire from a sample of 81 respondents were analyzed by using inferential statistical tools such as correlation, simple linear regression and multiple regression analysis to investigate the relationship between independent variables and dependent variables. The results of this study indicate that, when the six antecedents of stress were taken as independent variables and job stress as dependent variable; independent variables (job autonomy, relationship at work and physical environment had significant negative relationship to predict job stress. On the other hand when job stress were taken as independent variable and job satisfaction and turnover intention taken as dependent variables job stress is significance to predict both job satisfaction and turnover intention with significant negative and positive relationship respectively. Based on the findings of the study, some recommendations forwarded; concerned body should plan properly to employees to whom they are required to accomplish their task; assign sufficient man power in each job position; create awareness to employees to clearly know what they work, how they work and what is expected from them on the job; strengthen self-learning individually as well as within employees each other; immediate subordinates should support employees regularly; should fulfill the required adequate resources and materials and build up staff relationship particularly in terms of respect and help each other. en_US
