| dc.description.abstract | The main objective of this study was to assess the Contributions of World Vision and SOS to the improvements of primary school students’ learning environment. To achieve this purpose, a mixed research design with a comparative analysis of data has been employed. Four primary schools were purposively selected from which four school principals, eight teachers (two from each school), two persons from education department (one expert and one department head), two persons from finance department (one expert and one department head), four WV & SOS officials (two from each INGO) were selected and interviewed. Moreover, twenty students who are beneficiaries of those INGOs were involved in the FGD. Semi structured interview, FGD and various document were used for data collection tools. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques such as mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage as well as inferential statistics such as Two Samples Independent T-test to compare the mean scores. The quantitative data obtained from interviews and FGD were analyzed thematically to supplement qualitative findings. The study revealed that, both World Vision and SOS were found contributing significantly in improving students’ learning environments through their projects although differences were observed in their contributions. The data also revealed that the academic achievement of students has improved after those INGOs had been involved in supporting in the selected primary schools. Finally, the study recommends the need to maximize the interventions of World Vision and SOS in supporting primary schools. | en_US |
