Abstract:
The=purpose of this study was to examine the effect of skill-related physical fitness
training on players' performance. Players' difference in performance and fulfillment of
positional requirements was also assessed in the case of North Shoa Debere Birhan
Kenema Super League Male Football Club (NSDBKSLMC). All 2) players s 7 committee
members and a coach were included in the study. Quasi experimental design was
employed. Data was collected through field-test, interview and document analysis. The
data gathered through field-tests were analyzed by using quantitative methods such as
descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), t-test and one-way ANO VA followed
by Tukey post-hoc test. Qualitative data gathered through interview and document
analysis were analyzed thematically using descriptive statements. The skill-related
physical fitness training of the club has significant effect only on the two components of
skill related physical fitness (coordination and reaction time) but has no significant
impact oil the rest four components (agility, balance, speed and power). Exercises
designed and implemented in the training program lack relevance to the development of
players' skill related physical fitness. There were significant differences among different
position players in four components-of skill related physical fitness - agility, speed, power
and xeaction time, but no significant differences were observed in balance and
coordination. Differences were also observed within the same position players on the six
components of skill related physical fitness. Different position players fulfilled some
'positional requirements and failed to full fill some other positional requirements. There
