dc.description.abstract The main purpose of this study is to examine the effect of Perceived emotional intelligence on Leadership effectiveness of Bahir Dar University. This study was conducted on Bahir Dar University Academic Wing Leaders. Those who are framed leaders are President, vice presidents, scientific Directors, vice scientific Directors, Deans, vice deans and Department Heads. As a result, a total of 173 five-point Likert scale-type questionnaires were distributed, out of which 98.84 % were successfully completed and returned. The study was directed by five research objectives which pursued answers for the effect of emotional intelligence on Leadership effectiveness. The study employed Descriptive and explanatory due to its intent to find the relationship between Emotional intelligence and Leadership effectiveness. To analyze the data, frequency counts, percentage, ANOVA, Mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s correlation, linear and multiple regressions were employed. The study adopted census, a complete enumeration of 171 respondent which gives Comprehensive insight about the topic. A quantitative approach was used and data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS Version 25 after coding and cleaning to eliminate any inadequacies. The findings revealed that the effect of emotional intelligence components (self-awareness, self-Regulation, Motivation and Social skills) have a strong significance and positive effect in determining Leadership effectiveness. The regression analysis results also indicated that all the independent variables had significant effect on leadership effectiveness. Furthermore, 86.4% of the variability of the Leadership effectiveness was explained by self- Awareness, self-regulation, motivation and empathy. Therefore, the study recommended that Emotional intelligence components need to be implemented in Bahir Dar University to obtain improved Leadership Effectiveness. The university should also develop training programs and adopt recruitment and selection policies. en_US
