Handball is a dynamic team sport with the ability to increase community engagement, promote
health, and nurture lo cal talent (Rossing, 2018). In Merawi and Durbetie Towns, as in many
other areas handball programs have been launched with the goal of prom oting local sports
development encouraging youth participation, and stimulating community
engagement. However, exec uting such projects is fraught with challenges that can limit their
success. So the study aims to analyze t he challenges and opportunities faced by Merawi and
Durbetie Towns aiming to provide strategic recommendations for their improvement and long
term sport development. This stu dy uses mixed research design to analyze the challenges and
opportunities of youth male handball team play ers . Purposive sa mpling was used to select the
participants. Quantitative data was analyzed using percentages and frequencies, while
qualitativ e data was ana lyzed with words. Based on data analysis and presentation the
followings are the Major challeng es, including lack of care, supervision, sport wear, periodic
competition, field equipment, financial support, progressive performance test s . However, despite
th ese challenges, opportunities also exist, such as players’ interest, positive relationships with
coaches, moral support from other coaches, parental support and availability of playin g court.
Recommendations for the respecting bodies, such as inviting resp onsible bodies during training
sessions, creating competitions, encouraging all players to attend, raising awareness about the
lifelong benefits of participating in training programs, involving private business owners,
preparing baz aars for finance case |
