dc.description.abstract Work-life balance is the balance between an individual’s work and their life outside work. The main objective of this research was to analyze the effect of work life balance on employee turnover intention the mediating role of job stress in the case of Ethiopian Electric Utility Bahir Dar District analyzing the effect of work load, work hour and family supportive culture on job stress in addition to that analyzing the effect of job stress and work life balance on employee turnover intention were specific objective of the study. To succeed the main objectives quantitative research approach was appropriate for this study and explanatory survey research design was appropriate for this study to the extent that it sought to describe the relationship between Work life balances, job stress and employee turnover intention in terms of their objective. Questionnaires were adapted from previous study works. A simple random method was applied to select samples from a total of 745 employees; of whom 260 were selected in the Ethiopian Electric Utility Bahir Dar District. The data was analyzed using SPSS version 26 using descriptive, correlation and regression analysis. Pearson Correlation and multiple regression analyses were conducted to investigate the suggested hypothesis and test the direct and mediated relationships among variables. Mediation analysis test was also carried using Baron and Kenny’s (1986) model. From the overall analysis, it was established that work load and work hour have a positive and significant effect on job stress, contrarily family supportive culture has negative effect on job stress. In addition to this work load and work hour have a positive effect on employee turnover intention and family supportive culture has negative effect on employee turnover intention. Job stress also has a positive effect on employee turnover intentions. The paper concluded that job stress partially mediates the relationship between work life balance and employee turnover intention. Finally, the researcher recommended that develop team work culture, use time properly and to develop close relationship for their family are used to reduce job stress and their turnover intention. en_US
