Background: - COVID-19 is a serious infectious disease caused by corona virus two, first reported from China at the end of 2019 in the city of Wuhan. Ethiopia received its first COVID-19 vaccine doses, a total of 2.2 million doses and launched the COVID 19 vaccination on March 2021. Health care workers were key target groups for COVID 19 vaccine but they are still missing out vaccines and dangerously exposed to COVID-19 infection. There was vaccine hesitancy which attributed to slow COVID 19 vaccine uptake, therefore this study aimed to assess uptake and associated factors of COVID-19 vaccine among healthcare workers. Method: - Cross-sectional study design was conducted in East Gojjam zone public health facilities from September 15-30/2022. Sample size was calculated by using single population proportion formula to get total sample size of 695 participants. Multi stage sampling technique was used, data were collected by using self-administered questionnaire then entered into computer using Epi Info version 7 and exported to SPSS version 22 for statistical analysis. Descriptive analysis was used. From bi-variables logistic regression analysis variables having a p- value of < 0.2 were included in the multivariable logistic regression analysis. Finally variables having p-value of<0.05 with AOR at 95% confidence interval were declared as predictors. Results: A total of 678 health care workers participated in the study with response rate of 97.5%. From the total study participants 417(61.5%) (95% CI: 58-65) were vaccinated COVID-19 vaccines at least one dose. The study indicated that COVID-19 vaccine uptake was associated with family size 1-4 (AOR=4.0, 95% CI :1.98-8.07), working in Health centres(AOR = 3.32, 95% CI : 2.03-5.44), had history of testing for COVID 19(AOR=3.07, 95% CI :1.93-4.90), had used printed material as main source of information related to COVID 19 (AOR=3.57, 95%CI :2.17-5.88), not fear the side effects of COVID 19 vaccine (AOR=3.66, 95%CI :2.16-6.21) and perceived being exposed to COVID 19 at any time (AOR=2.02, 95% CI :1.20-3.40). Conclusion and recommendation: - COVID-19 vaccine uptake among health care workers was low as compared world health organization set a strategy to vaccinate 100% of health care workers. Family size, working facility type, history of tested for COVID 19 in the past, main source of information about COVID 19, fear of COVID 19 vaccine side effect and perceived exposed to COVID 19 were factors for COVID-19 vaccine uptake. Therefore decision makers and health managers should be consider establishing obligatory vaccination of COVID 19 vaccine for health care workers and design strategies for the provision of the vaccine.
