BACKGROUND: Human immune deficiency virus has become one of the world’s most serious health and development challenges. HIV prevention was not given enough attention and the prevalence of Human Immune Virus infections among Ethiopian high school and preparatory students has also increased. Therefore, this study aimed to assess behavioral responses for Human Immune Virus /Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome prevention among High school and Preparatory students of Bahir-Dar city, Ethiopia, 2022 by using the Extended Parallel Process Model OBJECTIVE: To assess behavioral responses for condom use message to prevent Human Immune Virus /Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome among Bahir-Dar city High school and Preparatory students by using Extended parallel process model, Bahir-Dar, Ethiopia 2022. METHOD: Institution based cross-sectional study was conducted from November to December 2022 in Bahir-Dar city. The Data were collected from 601 participants .Multi stage sampling technique was used to select study participants. Data were entered to Epi-info version7.2.5 and exported to SPSS version 26 for analysis. Descriptive statistics, percentage and frequency were done. Bi-variable logistic regression was done to identify variables candidate for multi variable logistic regression at p value less than 0.25 and multivariable logistic regression was done to identify factors associated with the outcome variable at p value less than 0.05 and with 95% confidence interval and odds ratio were used for interpretation association. RESULTS: The response rate of the respondent is 94.9 %. The behavioral response was affected by Grade level AOR,0.473,95 CI(0.252-0.886), knowledge AOR,2.627 95 CI(1.788- 3.859), attitude AOR,3.19, 95CI(2.145-4.744), efficacy AOR 3.286,95%CI(2.03-5.339) and threat AOR,0.249,95% CI(0.167-0.369) response were associated with danger control. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION: The Danger control response is 60.9 %. Grade level, knowledge, attitude, perceived and threat efficacies are the independent predictors associated with danger control. Therefore, the messages must aim at enhancing threat component perception with appropriate efficacy messages to control danger and promote behavioral change l.
