Background: Mother’s satisfaction with neonatal intensive care is among important indicators in evaluating and improving quality of health care interventions in neonatal intensive care unit. In addition, there are limited studies in Ethiopia that assessed mother’s satisfaction with neonatal intensive care and those studied had high variation, because of this local based study is needed to know level of satisfaction in the study area. Objective: To assess mother’s satisfaction with neonatal intensive care unit services and associated factors at public hospitals of Bahir-Dar city North West Ethiopia. Methods: A facility -based cross-sectional study was conducted from September, 23 to December, 23 2021 among 440 mothers whose neonates were admitted in neonatal intensive care units. Participants were selected using systematic sampling technique and data were collected using an interviewer-administered structured questionnaire. Data entry and analysis were performed using Epi data 3.1 and Statistical Package for Social Science- 23 respectively. To identify associated factors, binary logistic regression was carried out. Variables with a p-value of < 0.05 in multivariable analysis were stated as statically significant. Result: The overall satisfaction of mothers on neonatal intensive care was 47 % at 95% CI (42.3- 51.6). Educational status of diploma AOR= 3.59, 95% CI (1.72-7.52), Mothers who gave vaginal birth AOR=3.14, 95% CI (1.92-5.14), mothers who stayed 1-7 days and 8-14 days AOR= 6.25,95% CI (1.94-20.15) & AOR= 3.51,95% CI (1.04-11.77), income of 1000 and bellow & 1001-5000 AOR=2.79, 95% CI (1.02-7.64)), AOR=3.43, 95% CI(1.49-7.94), neonates gestational age 37 weeks and above AOR=1.97,95%CI (1.21-3.22) & waiting time AOR=2.39, 95% CI (1.53-3.72), were significantly associated with mother’s satisfaction. Conclusion: Bellow half of mothers were satisfied with neonatal intensive care services. Educational status, mode of delivery, gestational age, length of hospitalization, income and waiting time were significantly associated factors. Therefore, healthcare providers should ensure quality clinical interventions timely to decrease waiting time, length of hospitalization and to increase satisfaction level.
