Abstract:
In this study three Iron(III) complexes with resorcinol and 2,2’-biphyridine, [Fe(RH)2(H2O)4]Cl
(1),[Fe(HR)2(H2O)2Bpy]Cl (2), and [Fe(RH)2(Bpy)2]Cl (3), where synthesized and characterized.
The complexes where synthesized in solution and characterized using physicochemical
(qualitative halide test, melting point, color and solubility), spectroscopic ( flame atomic
absorption spectroscopy (FAAS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR), UV Vsiblespectroscopy) as well as cyclic voltammetry. The evidences obtained from all these
techniques supported the synthesis of the complexes.Based on the analytical and spectroscopic
data octahedral geometry was assigned for all complexes. According to the cyclicvoltammetry
results, complex 1 is reversible and less stable, whereas complex 2 and 3 are irreversible and
highly stable.
