Many engineering applications today are increasingly made of laminated composite material. Hybridization technique wherein more than one type of fiber is combined in the same matrix provides an added advantage to the designer to further explore the potential of fiber-reinforced polymer composite. This thesis aims to investigate the effect of stacking sequence on the free vibrational properties of bamboo glass fiber reinforced polyester hybrid composite by using analytical and experimental methods. The analytical methods were performed to obtain the first three natural frequencies based on First-Order Shear Deformation Theory (FSDT) with the Bernoulli Euler equation. In the current project, Bamboo (B) 30 wt. % and Glass (G) 10 wt. % fiber with 60wt%, the polyester resin was utilized to form bamboo-glass hybrid composites using a hand lay-up. The experimental testing was performed to determine the first three natural frequencies and damping ratios of BGFHPC materials using ACC103 accelerometer with DAQ USB NI-6009 were connected to the computer by integrating the LABVIEW. The damping ratios were measured according to the logarithmic decrement method from the time domain graph plotted. By comparing the natural frequencies of BGBGBG, BBGGBB and BGBBGB stacking sequence incorporate with, cross-ply, angle-ply, and quasi-isotropic angle of orientation, it has been seen that BGBGBG with a cross-ply angle of orientation recorded the highest natural frequency while BBGGBB with the quasi-isotropic angle of orientation recorded the lowest natural frequency. The obtained test results from the experimental method were validated with the analytical results. A good agreement was accomplished between the analytical and experimental results. The analytical and experimental results have shown that the first three natural frequencies were decreased when increasing the outer layer of a bamboo lamina. And also, the natural frequencies were decreased and damping ratios were increased with an increase of bamboo fiber lamina on the outer layer of composite materials. This is similar to other conventional materials like cast iron, steel, and aluminum. Thus, laminate B2 made from BBGGBB layering sequence and 45/-45 angle of orientation is a viable candidate for applications that need good vibration properties.
