Abstract:
An ad hoc network is a collection of mobile nodes that dynamically form a temporary network. It
operates without the use of existing infrastructure. As Mobile ad hoc network (MANET)
applications are deployed, Routing is one of the central requirements. Routing in MANET is
used for finding the multi-hop paths to transmit the data flow through the network. There are
many routing protocol in MANET, The performance of routing protocol in depends on value of
parameters used in. Being very large combination of these values, it is difficult to find an optimal
combination for better Quality of Service (QoS) in MANET. Therefore, we have proposed an
optimization algorithm based on Water Wave Optimization (WWO) to find an optimal
combination in Ad-hoc on demand distance vector routing (AODV). WWO is a new Meta-heuristic taking inspiration from shallow water wave models for global optimization. It uses
three wave-inspired operators‘ including propagation, refraction, and breaking for effectively
exploring a high-dimensional solution space of an optimization problem. The proposed algorithm
explores the enormous number of all possible feasible routing protocol configurations to find
optimized parameter settings. The simulation results show that the proposed optimization
algorithm significant performance improvement in terms of the Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR),
Control overhead, Normalized Routing Load (NRL), Average End to End Delay (AE2ED) and
Throughput as compared to existing routing protocol.
