Wheat is one of the most important cereal crops of the world and is a staple food for about one third of the world’s population. Wheat production of Ethiopian the mean national yield of 0.27 t. ha-1 is 24% below than mean yield for Africa and 48% below than global mean yield. Lack of location specific seed rate recommendations and sowing methods are one of contributing factor for poor productivity of wheat in the country. Hence, a field experiment was conducted to study the performance of bread wheat sown under different sowing methods and different seed rates during 2019/2020 main cropping season in Fageta Lokoma District Awi Zone, Ethiopia. Factorial combinations of five seed rates (100, 125,150,175 and 200 kg ha-1) and two sowing methods namely (row planting and broad-casting) were laid out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replica-tions the data with analyse by using SAS software ANOVA method. The results showed that both the main effect and interaction effect of different sowing method and seed rate had highly significant (P<0.01) effect on parameters of biological yield, grain yield and straw yield. The main effect of seed rates and sowing methods were significantly (P<0.05) affected yield related parameters like plant height, number of total tiller per plant, number of effective tiller, thousands of kernel weight, and spike length. However, sowing method and seed rates had no significant effect (P≥0.05) on parameters date of emergence and heading, number of kernel per spike and harvest index. Seed rate of 150 kg ha-1 resulted in the highest plant height (88.08 cm), maximum number of tillers per plant (3.2 cm) and productive tillers per plant (2.6cm), whereas 125 kg ha-1 gave the highest biological yield (10.30 t. ha-1), the use of 150 kg ha-1 gave maximum grain yield (3.98 t. ha-1) and straw yield (7.02 t. ha-1) of bread wheat. The partial budget analysis showed that the treatment combination of 150 kg ha-1 seed rate with row planting of 20 cm was the most profitable compared to other treatments and could be recommended for farmers at Fageta Lokoma and other similar agro- ecological areas. However, to reach and conclusive recommenda-tion it is advised to repeat the experiment on additional locations and years. Keywords: Bread wheat; sowing methods; yield
