| dc.description.abstract | This is a study on quality of care service for elderly people: comparing two different settings of services providing volunteer organizations in Bahir Dar. The study has attempted to assess the quality of care services through the lenses of receipents and care providers from institutional and community-based settings. The rather unique nature and distinguishing characteristic of this study is that, instead of assessing a single setting, that is, as done customarily, here two different settings were assessed in order to indicate the quality of care services in comparison. It examines closely interrelated aspects of care services for elderly. First, it assessed and found that the care services provided for elderly in these organizations under investigation are fundamental ones that rescued vulnerable elders. These care services shelter, food, health, economic strengthening and counseling were found predominant. Secondly, it examines the quality of elderly care services using pre-established quality indicators; structural, process and elderly satisfaction dimensions. Among structural components of quality indicators funding become a problematic to maintain the quality in both settings. It investigates the clients of these organization are highly vulnerable elders who were worth mentioned the importance of the availability of such services which rescued them from street life considering quality of care as secondary issue. At last, to achive quality of services or to reduce vulnerabilities and elders suffereing; coordination among these organizations are a vital steps to share pressures caused by increased demand, reduced budgets and inefficient processes. As well as training, monitoring and evaluation are important for optimum use of all available resources. | en_US |
