dc.description.abstract	Single mom commercial sex workers have experienced a lot of challenges in the process of selling sex for money. This study intended to explore the lived experiences of single mom commercial sex workers in Bahir Dar City Administration, particularly in sefene selam sub city kebele 05. It is particularly meant to explore the challenges of single mom commercial sex workers and the coping mechanism that single mom commercial sex workers use to handle their challenges. To meet the objectives of the study, qualitative approach with phenomenology design was employed. In the study, eight interviewees participated. All of the interviewees were selected by applying purposive sampling technique. The data was extracted using in-depth interview data collection instrument and it was analyzed through thematic data analysis technique. The finding of the study showed that single mom commercial sex workers faced challenges that include physical challenge, psychological challenge, sexual challenge, economical challenge and social challenges. The study also found out that single mom commercial sex workers used different coping strategies to deal with their problems. Being tolerant, arranging working hour, being non selective in relation to their client were their coping mechanisms. It was, therefore, concluded that single mom commercial sex workers had faced lots of challenges and used their own mechanisms to overcome challenges. Finally, possible recommendations including government should be designed Strategies for income generation, informal education and should enhance the functionalities and competencies of law enforcement, NGOs should design programs, projects to address issues related to single mom commercial sex workers and finally the researchers should conduct additional exploratory researches in the study area were provided.
