in events they participated as a result of this; it acquires a wide attention locally and globally. So, it concerns with strength training as a basic requirement for improvement of vertical jump skill. Vertical jump is very common problem with many goal keepers today. The purpose of the present study was to determine the effect of strength training in lower extremities to improve the goal keeper vertical jump skill in woreta male goalkeepers, to achieve the purpose, Quasi- Experimental design was used. 18 males goal keeper club players were taken population (purposive) as a sample studies their age was 17-21 years) and divided by lottery system in to 2 equal groups. Experimental group (n=9) and control group (n=9). Experimental groups performed strength training respectively three days per week for 3 month and 60 minutes per session. Both groups under gone normal training program and both groups had taken pre & posttests. So, all subjects participated on leg muscle power test: vertical jump against a wall or backboard and standing long jump tests. The data collected from the study subject was analyzed using statistical package for social science version 23 software by paired sample t test at 0.05 level of confidence. The results showed leg muscle power variable such as vertical jump against a wall or backboard (MD=-11.77), and standing long jump ( MD=-0.1589) were improved significantly following 12 weeks of strength training in EG at (p˂0.05) but, no significance in leg muscle power improvement were found in CG.(p˃0.05), experimental group were significantly increased leg muscle power. However, the results of the study indicate that, Experimental group were better improvements than control groups.so strength training is more effective and beneficial for the improvement of goalkeeper vertical jumping skill.
