Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of combined plyometric and circuit training on speed, endurance and explosive power. To achieve this objective the study used quasi experimental research design. All U-17 project members of 19 male handball players from Finote Selam was included on the study and 10 of them were experimental group with mean chronological age of 15.5 and mean training age of 3.5 and 9 of them were comparison group with mean chronological age of 15.56 and mean training age of 3.55. Experimental group was done combined plyometric and circuit training for eight consecutive weeks on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday per week in addition to their regular training program; however comparison group was only doing their regular training program. This study also used performance test of flying 30 meter and 60 meter run test to know speed performance level, 12 minute run test and 3 minute step test to know endurance performance level and sergeant jump test and standing long jump test to know explosive power performance level of handball player. After conducted pre and post tests the data was analyzed by using SPSS version 23 software of paired T test with the level of significant at (P<0.05). The results shows that eight weeks combined plyometric and circuit training has significant improvement on speed, endurance and explosive power for experimental group at (P<0.05), however, there were no significant improvements on comparison group. Based on this finding, it can be conclude that eight weeks combined plyometric circuit training has a positive significant effect on the improvements of speed, endurance and explosive power of handball player. .
