Camelina [Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz] is a newly registered crop to Ethiopia by National variety release committee, and research information on its response to improved and recommended agronomic practice information lacks. This experiment was therefore endeavored to study the effect of different level of nitrogen and phosphorus fertilization on growth, yield and yield components of C. sativa. A field experiment was conducted during the off season of 2017 with irrigation at Shehoch peasant association Libo kemkem district (South Gonder) to determine growth and yield response of Camelina to nitrogen and phosphorus fertilizer. The experiment was set up as randomized complete blocks design (RCBD) with three replications in factorial arrangement. Treatments were four combination of four level of nitrogen fertilizer [N1, (0kg/ha), N2, (50kg/ha), N3, (100kg/ha) and N4, (150 kg/ha)] and four level to phosphorus fertilizer [P1, (0kg/ha); P2, (30kg/ha), P3, (60kg/ha) and P4, (90kg/ha)].In this study the results showed that all variable traits of Camelina were affected by N application. Accordingly there was generally no detrimental effect of high N rates on plant establishment, number of seeds per pod but different levels of Nitrogen had highly significant (P<0.01) effect on date of 50% flowering, primary branch/plant, plant height, number of pods/plant, grain/seed yield as well as harvest index Higher yield differences were realized in application of 150kg/ha of N. Unlike to nitrogen, P application had no effect on the days to 50% emergence, number of seeds per pod, dry biomass, and harvest index. The addition of phosphorus fertilizer had indeed significant (P<0.05) effects on Camelina seed yield and thousand seed weight, and highly significant (P<0.01) on days of 50% flowering, number of primary branches per plant, days to maturity and plant height. Primary branches and seed yield usually increased with increasing N rate. The highest grain yield (10.3Q/ha) was recorded with application of 90kg/ha phosphorus and 150kg/ha nitrogen fertilizers. This study showed that application of high rates of N and P fertilizers increased the productivity of Camelina. The correlation analysis showed that all parameters of the crop were positively correlated each other. Based on the marginal rate of return, optimum rate of return was obtained with application of 150kg/ha N and 0kg/ha phosphorus fertilizer was recommendable for better yield of Camelina production in the study area.
