ABSTRACT Conflict and refugee related problems are the most acute in the African continent and some major regions of the world. So this study was conducted to identify the nature extent of conflict between the refugees and host community in the case of Dollo-Ado Refugee Camps, Dollo Addo Woreda of Ethiopian Somali Regional State. Dollo ado district was purposively selected; two refugee camps were selected for the study the participants were purposively drawn from the two refugee camps with a sample of the whole population, 90 Melkadida and 52 Buramino refugee camps in a sample size of 142. The method used for this research was a qualitative and quantitative method with a method of random sampling techniques both primary and secondary data were used in this study. The primarily were collected by using a semi-structured interview questionnaire, key informant interview and focus group discussions. Also secondary data were collected from published documents, official websites and unpublished documents and also related literatures. Descriptive method was used to explain the demographic and socioeconomic behaviour of household characteristics. The quantitative data were analyzed by using the statistical analytical techniques such as frequency, percentage, mean and averages in the SPSS program The qualitative data were analyzed and presented by using both in combination and separately in case study narrations The results show that The existence of local natural resource competition and conflict has been expressed by all groups of respondents and it’s evidenced by ever growing demand for natural resources (59.2%), Socioeconomic (38.8%) and personal in conflict (7%). As per the findings of study, the main causes of conflict are; water (48.3%), land (25%), firewood (11.9%), job interest (5.8%), Aid (7%), Trade (3.5%), and the unprecedented pressure on scarce environmental resources. With regard to change and continuity, majority of urban host respondents concur that, refugee camp have been places that provided common markets and job opportunities for both host and refugee population. There are various instances of joint resource management and utilisation, where refugees and host communities have shown cooperation amid intermittent disagreements. Thus, the current situation lacks equity and fairness, and host community being isolated in the use of own resources and this needs clear guidelines and rules for the natural resource usage in order to lessen the natural resource related base of conflict.
