dc.description.abstract This study was conducted to investigate how framing of corruption news in Ethiopia print media a comparative study of Addis Zemen and Reporter Newspapers. Quantitative content analysis was used as a major approach. The study employed framing and political economy theory of the mass media as the theoretical framework. Two newspapers, Addis Zemen from the government and Reporter from the private print media were selected purposively as source of data. The research was conducted based on six-month time frame; the period from July 8, 2017 up to January 8, 2018. The reason of selecting this period was that there was special event of more than 50 Ethiopian federal government executive members were arrested by the cause of corruption. The study revealed that morality frame was the most dominantly used frame in Addis Zemen newspaper whereas economic frame was the most dominant frame used by Reporter newspaper. In other hand, government print media used conflict frame least dominantly, but the least dominantly used frame in private print media was attribution of responsibility frame in framing of corruption news articles. Both government and private print media outlets gave less emphasis for thematic news, but they dominantly used episodic news stories. The two newspapers utilized government official sources dominantly more than the other corruption news sources. These have shown that both government and private print media have given little attentions for other sources in framing of corruption news reports. Therefore, they didn’t play strongly the watch dog role of media which fight against corruption. The similarity between government and private media were that both of them used attribution of responsibility and conflict frames the least, they used episodic frame and government official sources dominantly. It is recommended that both government and private print media outlets should give appropriate emphasis to use different generic frames rather than using a few generic frame dominantly in reporting and framing corruption news articles, they have to focus on thematic issues rather than episodic issues and they should use multiple and credible news sources instead of using government officials sources dominantly to fight against corruption. en_US
