Abstract:
The purpose of this research was to asses’ the challenges and prospects that affect the performance of Missig football club. In this research descriptive survey research method was employed and quantitative and qualitative research method was conducted to meet the research objectives. In this research the purposive sampling techniques was employed as a sample 18(100%) players, 2(100%) coach staff members, 7 (100%) Club administrative members and 5(100%) sport expertise according to their experience were included. Moreover, a random sampling lottery technique was employed, to select a sample of 45(20%) fans. The researcher used a variety of data gathering instruments. These were questionnaire, interview and observation check list. In this study the primary data was collected from players, coach staffs, sport expertise, fans, and club administrative members. The collected data were tallied, tabulated and put using percentage. Then descriptive analysis was made for each report counts and percentage. The result of the study indicates that the club participates in the higher league of Amhara region for last 6th years but the club has various problems affecting the performance of Missig football club. The major findings of the study were concerned, the majority of respondents replied that the problems faced in Missig football club were lack of co-operative work among the club administrative body’s with players, coaching staffs, fans and stakeholders. Low motivation given to players, coaches, society support was poor during training and match day. As well as, the absence of balanced diet, poor quality training organization, poor dormitory service. Shortage of finance, lack of sport materials, inappropriate training field, weak fans’ association, weak evaluation and monitoring was practiced and also absence of friendship match during preparatory period. Therefore the researcher concluded that to reduce the encountered problem of Missig football club, the club administrators should have to exercise co-operative work, strengthen discussion with all the concerned bodies and stakeholders, motivate and provide adequate incentives for team members, establish strong fans association. The researcher recommended that the club would be able to ensure financial adequacy by innovating income generating activities, should make availability of the necessary sport materials and suitable training field and ensure quality of training for sustainable performance of the club. Finally, the club managers would give attention to effective managerial skills in terms of administrative, psychological, social, financial, material, training field, and quality of training to enhance the performance of the club.
