Human resource management is one of the most dominant functions to facilitate sport development and to achieve goals. Predominantly, planning, leading, controlling and directing are the key functions for the success any organization. Thus, the study was aimed at examining practices and challenges of human resource management in attaining sport development goals in some selected Wordasof West Gojjam. Therefore, in order to assessthe practice and challenges the study employed mixed types of research (both qualitative and quantitative). Both probability and non probability sampling technique were used. More specifically, while purposive sampling was used from the non-probability sampling method, simple random sampling was employed from the probability sampling method. Regarding data collection tools, questionnaire, in-depth interview and observation were employed as the tool to collect both the qualitative and quantitative data. Furthermore, the study followed concurrent triangulation design to present, analyze and interpret the data.According to findings of the study, poor planning system, ineffective selection and development of coaches, referees, employees, trainers are the challenges of West Gojjam and some selected worda sport organizations to attain sport development goals. In addition, poor monitoring and evaluation system, poor organizational culture, lack of good motivational and reward system, differences of sport popularity, poor organizational culture like poor horizontal communication are also big challenges to achieve sport development goalsinsome selected wordasof West Gojjam and. Whereas, lack of financial resources, lack of skilled man power and lack of material resources could also the key factors of human resource functions to attain sport development goal effectively.Finally, the study was piercing out that sport organization of West Gojjam zone and some other selected wordas applying human resource management functions for efficiently and effectively as the recommendation of to achieve sport development goals effectively and efficiently. |
