Abstract:
This study was mainly aimed to assess the main challenges and practice of sport managerial skills by sport participating at the Amhara National Regional Education Bureau inter collegiate sport competition. To this end, the research firstly tried to answer the level of sport team leaders understanding about sport leadership skills and finally the research tried to find the answer for the challenges which hampered the practice of sport leadership skills. In answering the above research questions, the researcher has used a descriptive research design. The data collected through different instruments from 20 team leaders and 400 students were analyzed by considering the nature of data collected. Qualitative data analysis techniques (narration, interpretation and direct quotation) were used to analyze the data collected through interview, focus group discussion and observation; whereas, the quantitative data analysis techniques (mean and SD) were used to analyze the data collected through closed-ended items of the questionnaires. From the analyses of the data collected, the major findings were standout in the study i.e. the understanding of team leaders about sport team leader’s skills and its real practice were to be found above the average mean and the difference were observed between students and team leaders mean response. There were also different challenges encountered the sport team leaders to practice the leadership skills during the college inter sport competition; some of the challenges were lack of time, training and huge amount of participants in the competition.
