dc.description.abstract The purpose of this study was to determine level of UCa/Cr ratio and the possibility of / estimating the amount of calcium intake by determining urinary excretion of calcium in primary school children of Arnuma, Bcnishcngul Gurnuz, Ethiopia. This study was conducted on 25 primary School children, aged from 9 - I 5 years. Morning random urine samples collected from • Key words: Urine; Calcium; Crearinine; Urine Calcium/Creaiinine rauo • '· all children and were analyzed for calcium and crearinine ratio which were estimated by AAS und.alknline picrate method; respectively. It was observed that UCaiCr ratio in population was vary with age and sc)t.,/fvhich decreases with increasing age, thus an inverse re!at ionship was observed. The mean values lbr t!Ca/Cr ratio were 0.10.±0.03. This value was 0.077(0.0 I) for females and 0.023(0.020) for males. This study showed the amount of calcium intake was low in studied population. With regard to variation in lJCaiCr ratio among different studies, it is .. Abstract recomrneoded lo determine these ratios in each geographic area with 24-hr urine collectlon and en_US
