Abstract:
The present study was to investigate the impact of psychological skill training on self confidence and motivation of female students during practical class of PE. For this purpose initially two secondary and one preparatory school were selected purposely. Then from each school 30 female students and 2 PE teachers were selected quota method followed by simple randomly method. Therefore, total sample of the present study include 90 female students and 6 PE teachers. Then, female students were assigned randomly to experimental and control groups, each group had 45 subjects. The data were collected through test, questionnaires and observation check list. As a part of pre test for each group trait sport confidence inventory and situational motivation scale test were taken to measure self confidence and motivation level. The experimental group was given a six week psychological intervention (goal setting, self talk, relaxation, Imagery and visualization).After six weeks of psychological intervention a post test was also taken from each group. The collected data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. SPSS version 20 soft ware and an independent sample t test were used to compare the level of significance difference between groups. The present study indicated that as the result of psychological intervention there was statistically significant mean difference obtained between the experimental and control groups on self confidence and motivation. This study proved that psychological intervention was effective in increasing self confidence and motivation of female student.
