Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the factors that affect the teaching-learning
process of physical education and sport in Tilili general preparatory and secondary
school. The study includes 185 sample students, 5 physical education teachers and 3
school administrators (one director and two vice directors). A descriptive survey method
was used to carry out this study and questionnaire and interview were data collection
tools that used to gather the data. The collected data was analyzed by using both
quantitative (percentage and mean) and qualitative (descriptive statement) data analysis
methods. The study pointed out the major factors that affect the teaching-learning
process of physical education and sport in Tilili general preparatory and secondary

school such as students, PE teachers, students' parents and also school administrators
less attitude towards physical education and sport; some PE teachers less qualification in
all skill of physical education and sport, did not use a better teaching style and method,
and poor interaction with their students; absence and shortage of important PE and sport
facilities and equipments; and problems of the current physical education curriculum like
only one period given per a week and no need of national examination. To overcome
these factors, students and their parents or in general the society, PE teachers, school
'administrators and the other concerned bodies at their level should give a higher value
