Abstract:
The.main purpose of this study was to compare urban and rural school students' attitudes
toward physical education in case of A \H\S and Z\H\S. The attitude of urban and rural
school students toward physical education were investigated based on school location,
- gender difference and grade level and some factors affecting students' attitude towards
physical education. To this end, two hundred-three students (N=203) selected by using
stratified random sampling in considering the proportion of gender and grade level for
stratification. Besides this, adequate amount of data were collected by using two data
collection tools. Predominantly questionnaires were used as a major data collection
instrument and open ended and closed ended were included under it. The questionnaire
was piloted for reliability and validity. However, in order to assure the reliability used
cronbach alpha. Moreover, interview with Six physical education teachers (N=6)
selected by using purposive sampling. The closed ended questionnaire with likert scale
collected aata was employed in independent sample t-test using SPSS (V-20 statistical
package).The level of significance chosen was 0.05. More over the interview and open ended
questionnaires interpreted using percentage, count and descriptive statements. The study
revealed that 1) there is a significant difference that urban high school students had more
positiv._e attitudes towards physical education than rural high school students with
regarding total score and in terms of physical education curriculum, physical education
enjoyment, sport facility and equipment but in terms of students attitude towards physical
equipment.
