Abstract:
he intent of this study was to assess the status of Physical education in South Gonder in
some selected preparatory school. For this purpose descriptive survey were utilized. In
order to undertake this study questionnaire and interview were carried out to collect
primary data from sample respondents in the study area. From questionnaire distributed
to 8 physical education teachers and 300 preparatory school students. And also one
regional representative, 8 PE teachers and 6 school principals participated interview. In
addition to the above sources, relevant liteatures were also used. On the basis of the
above methodology the .finding of the study revealed that low attitude of school
principals, teachers and students, the gap in the practical aspect of the curriculum,
inadequate sport equipment and facilities, and low time allocation are the reasons for the
low status of physical education in the study area
