Abstract:
The main focus of this study was to investigate the effect of motivation on students'
academic achievement in case of Belay Zeleke Secondary School. The study was
employed to be experimental research method and random sampling method was used to
select the students. 112 students (62 female and 50 male) has been selected from a total
population of 1165 as a sample of the study. And then, 56 students in the experimental
group were exposed to the teaching learning process with different motivational
techniques and 56 students in .the control group were similarly given the teaching
learning process but with no motivation for 50 minutes, once per week for 8 weeks. Both
groups took the same pre and post Physical education achievement test. To analyze the
data quantitative analysis mean, standard deviation and t-test were utilized by using
SPSS20. No. significar;t group differences were found between students before the
treatment was given as examined by the pre-test. However, group differences in
motivation revealed that, motivation were score as more important by those who had
taken the treatment than those who had not. As a result, this study found that the
participant students' physical education achievements were highly promoted, after they
