Abstract:
Basketball game is one of the sport activities that has a positive effect on learner in
physical, mental and social sides as a result of that it acquires a wide attention locally
and globally, it concerns with the variety of concepts and basic skills as a fundamental
requirements to learn. The purpose of the study is to find out the effect of basketball skill
training on students performance on selected skills in basketball. To achieve the purpose,
thirty male basketballplayers were randomly selected as subjects, The age. of the subjects
were ranged between 16 to 18 years. The selected subjects were assigned into two groups
of 15 subjects each. Experimental group underwent program basketball skill training for
three days per week for twelve weeks and group 11 acted as control and under went to
school UN programmed basketball activities. Among the different skills of basketball
game skills sucli as chest pass, dribbling and shooting were selected as criterion
variables. based On AAHP ERD shooting and passing test item and Johnson basketball
dribbling test so that shooting, passing and dribbling performance were assessed by
speed shooting test, target chest pass and speed dribbling test respectively. All the

The training programme. The data was analyzed and compared with the help of statistical
procedures in which arithmetic mean, standard deviation and independent t test. The
-level of p<O. 05 was conszdered as significant level. The results of the study showed that
the basketball programmed skill training for twelve weeks is more effective in increasing
the shooting, dribbling and passing skills of male basketball students of Burie
preparatory school. Generally basketball skill training had a significant effect on
students' performance through the required tests. Hence, programmed basketball skill
