dc.description.abstract A disconnection occurs between what many girls value in physical education and what they experience in some physical education programs. Not surprisingly, some young women do not associate their physical activity preference with those included in their physical education courses . The purpose of this study was to examine the level of motivation and participatio11 of female students in various south wollo secondary and preparatory schools. To do this a cro_ss sectional survey method was conducted. In this study] 02 female students and 9 physical education teachers were participated. The schools and physical education teachers selected by random sampling and female students selected by stratified random sampling techniques. Beside this adequate amount of data were collected by multiple data collection tools. Predominantly questionnaires were used as a major data collection instruments. In addition to this to triangulate the result of the data the researcher used structured interview for female students and physical education teachers and observation for female students. The collected data were analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively through percentage and descriptive statement. Bas~"d on the finding of the study female students motivation and participation in physical ~ education practical class was less perception of female students to physical education practical class. Therefore, this study revealed that most female students were affected by " different reasons such .as traditional factors, past experience, religion, parent miss of the respondents showed that there was a variety of problems that caused by personal ,. . ~- ) understanding, peers and less opportunity that leads to less motivation and participation " in physical education practical class. In this result majority of female students were not po"'!itive attitude towards physical education practical class.
