dc.description.abstract he main purpose of this study was to determine the effect of taekwondo practices on grade 11 natural science students academic achievement of Belay Zeleke preparatory School in Bichena town. The research objectives and hypotesis tested were formulated to guid the study. 21 students in the experimental and equally 21 students in the control groups were involved. The treatment group students parents, Belay Zeleke preparatory school three physical educations teachers and private taekwondo trainer (master) were also participated by providing relevant evidences. Testes, questioners,and interview were tools for collecting data. A quasi-experimental design an equivalent in dependant T-test and correlation coefficient were meanly employed to see whether taekwondo training has impact on target student after the experimental group attended a 12 weeks taekwondo training 3 times a week for one and half hour per day. The questioners, and the interview results of the study were intended to determine the attitude of the experimental group students, their parents, and physical education teachers. Before the treatment groups took the sex and in their socioeconomic, education and family back ground. Yet in the post test assessment of the. school based (teacher made) test scores the experimental group outperformed the control group with 3. 5 mean difference. The standard deviation of the treatment group was 5.69 and 10.91 that of the control grope t ( 3.84) and p>0.05. experimental groups second ..,.! '.l. I taekwondo training both groups mean academic achievement were almost similar with only 0. 68 ,.t _ mean differences. Moreover, students in both groups were in the same age range (17-19 years), semester (post test) mean and, the taekwondo training test mean score were correlated. The result of the' correlation coefficient was positive 0.9 indicating the strong relationship between __,. taekwondo training and over all academic achievemen en_US
