Abstract:
Plyomelric Iraining is an imporlanl Iraining program in improving physical
fitness
and soccer skills olplayers. The study was conducled to .lind out Ihe
e(reCIS o{plyometric Iraining on soccer related physicalfitness variables o{U
/7Gondar city adminislration soccer players. For this study -/0 male soccer
players
whose af{ed U-/ 7 volunteered to participate in the study. They were
purposively
assigned in experimenlal (n=20) and control (n=20) groups. The
experimental group was
engaged in a supenised plyometric training
program 2 days/week for /2 H'eeks. The control group did nol practice any
plyometric Iraining. The physical fitness and soccer skill variables selecled.f(Jr
the study were: Speed. Explosive power. Agility. Dribbling. Kicking Right and
Lefi Feet. Tests were taken two times at pre training. and post training. Data
were anulyzed by using SPSS. Comparison o{mean was done hy paired T-test.
The results obtained in this study indicated that experimental group shows
significant improvement
in selecled physical fitness and soccer skill variables.
The
conlrolgroup did not improve in any ofthe measures. Results (~lthe study
indicate that there was
sign(ficanl im/Jrovemenl in selectedfitness and soccer
skill variables due to the efJccts
of pl)'omelric training. Afier /2 weeks of
plyometric training (experimental group) participanl's speed (MD= 0.58),
agility (MD=
/.55). and explosive power (MD= -/.7) were changed
significantly
(p < (05). Participant's dribbling soccer skill (MD= 0.6-/).
kickh1g right fhot .Ii)/' dista.nce (MD= 3.0-/) and kicking lefi loot for distance
(MD=
1. 2) were significantly improved through plyometric training. This
study
proved thaI plyofl1etric training was sign(ficantly beller in improving the
physical fitness variables
and soccer skills (p < 0.05) of u- J7Gondar city
administration soccer players.
