dc.description.abstract The prime objective of this study was to assess the enforcement of women's right in Kaliti Prison rt"Jf Addis Ababa, Ethiopia which is one of the federal prisons of the country. The research used J ABSTRACT qualitative research, which is case study combined with observation. It is an exploratory research approach. Purposi'!_e sampling technique was used to include sample to the study. Five women prisoners and two officials of the prison were included to the study. Accordingly, in­ depth interview. was used to collect data for the study. Using sub-themes the collected data from_ the in-depth interview a'rtd observation were analyzed. Thus, the result has been found that, the sample of the imprisoned women are dominantly mothers and stayed in the prison for 3 up to 6 years, the Kaliti Prison have provided them with different hygiene materials, separate and clean toilet and bath rooms, education, and technical and vocational training, and regular food and water. However, the problem with the absence of transportation service for patients, the problem with accommodation and lack of visiting from law enforcers were taken as serious factors affecting the enforcement of women human right for imprisoned women. Thus, the federal vii \ government of Ethiopia, the justice office, the prison administration and other stakeholders' corporately with other governmental and non-governmental organization, and the Women, • Children and Youth office should work together to change the problems mentioned above. en_US
