Studies prove that concentrated training programs results complicated impacts on trainees. However, this implication on young trainees' physiological adaptations and performance is crucial for optimal enhancement and injury prevention is under explored. There for, this study was aims to evaluate the physiological and performance effects of concentrated weekend training program on 11–13 years old male soccer trainees. The study was used quasi experimental design with a total of 40 male soccer trainees at Bahir Dar University Stadium. The study investigated the effects of concentrated weekend training days. Over 10 week concentrated weekend soccer training program the long term physiological adaptations also alongside evaluating the influence of extra physical activities. The data collected from the study on subject were analyzed using SPSS version 25 software by using paired sample t-tests, binary logistic regression, and Pearson correlation analyses. The result showed that statistically significant reduction in sprint speed (M=6.03s on Sunday vs. M=5.72s on Saturday, P < 0.05) and CMJ height (M=2.15m on Sunday vs. M=2.24m on Saturday, P < 0.05), indicative of neuromuscular fatigue from insufficient recovery. Conversely, participation in extra irregular training intensely influenced recovery, dramatically increasing the odds of positive performance outcomes (Odds Ratio OR = 4.500, P < 0.05) and significantly reducing the likelihood of experiencing fatigue (OR = 0.156, p < 0.05, joint pain (OR = 0.079, P < 0.05), deserved sleep (OR = 0.003, P < 0.05), and muscle soreness (OR = 0.030, P < 0.05). throughout the experiment, significant physiological adaptations included reductions in diastolic BP (P < 0.05), systolic BP (P < 0.05), and a statistically significant change in VO2max (p=0.032), though RHR did not change significantly (P > 0.05). This finding concluded that weekend concentrated training programs had a significant influences on recovery and physiological improvements of young soccer trainees. Therefore, coaches should integrate diverse training programs for a better physiological and performance improvement strategies in young soccer trainees and future research are encouraged on different sex and age groups |
