Abstract:
The most significant constraint on construction projects is time. However, delivering
construction projects in Ethiopia within the agreed contract time is becoming continually
challenging. As a result, the anticipated services are delivered with too much delay to
provide the intended purposes. To manage projects in an effective and efficient manner,
this approach needs to be improved. Proper construction work scheduling development
and implementation is one of the vital factors that contribute to a project‘s success. In this
context, the general objective of this study was assessment of construction work schedule
development and implementation practice on public building project monitoring by road
and building design and construction supervision work enterprise. To achieve the
objectives of this study data were collected using both primary and secondary data
through identifying variables from literature reviews, questionnaires, desk study,
interviews, and data from reports. Multiple linear regression models, correlation methods
and ranking the factors in terms of degree of effect through descriptive data analyses with
help of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) version 22 software was employed
for collected data analysis. According to the research's findings, the most crucial tasks for
the development and implementation of a construction work schedule were to define the
project's work period, understand the full scope of the work, and revise schedule
depending on project progress. According to research findings, all public building
construction projects fell behind schedule. Four categories of factors were identified as
having a significant impact on the public building project's construction work schedule
performance those related to the contractor, consultants, clients, and external factors, with
predicted incidence rates of 0.461, 0.215, 0.161, and 0.161 respectively. The research
findings also suggested improvement methods for schedule performance which
contractor should manage his financial resources, plan cash flow, and develop strategy
and policy how to development and implementation construction work schedule were the
first rank. Finally, recommendations were proposed that enables to improve construction
work schedule development and implementation practice.
