dc.description.abstract This study focuses on the arrangement and detailing of different shear reinforcements in reinforced concrete beams. In this study, reinforced concrete beams with vertical stirrups, with inclined stirrups and with horizontal (longitudinal) reinforcements provided around the neutral axis of the beam are experimentally investigated. During the research work, ten specimens of concrete beams were used for testing and experimental investigation. The volumes of shear reinforcements provided in these nine types of reinforced concrete beams are equal. The shear strength, cracking or failure behavior and ductility were the three important parameters for the investigation of reinforced concrete beams. The test results shows that, the ultimate shear strength value of beam sample BV, BI, BH1, BH2, BH3, BHE1, BHE2 and BHE3 increased by 125.9%, 146.3%, 76.1%, 85.9%, 48.9%, 57.7%, 38.9% and 29.7% respectively, compared with control beam. Based on experimental results, it is concluded that the shear strength of beams reinforced with horizontal shear reinforcements (BH1, BH2 and BH3) are 17.7% up to 34.1% less than that of beams which were reinforced with vertical stirrups. Shear strength of beam reinforced with inclined stirrup is higher than that of beams reinforced with vertical and with horizontal shear reinforcements by 8.27% and 24.48-39.54% respectively. Based on the study, it is also concluded that horizontal shear reinforcements can be used during design of beams. A beam reinforced with inclined stirrups has a higher shear strength value and ductility performance than all other beams. But the ductility performance of all sample beams has no significant differences. Key Words: Reinforced Concrete Beam, Shear Reinforcement, Diagonal Shear Crack, Horizontal Shear Reinforcement en_US
