The main aim of this study is to assess the effectiveness of anti-human trafficking measures and the way in which they can be effectively addressed locally in West Armachiho Woreda. To achieve the above objective, the researcher employed a qualitative research approach. Accordingly, this study used a case study research design to describe the measures of anti human trafficking, analyze the anti-human trafficking measures' practical implementation, and the challenges of the anti-human trafficking efforts in Woreda. The study used a non-probability sampling procedure. Among non-probability sampling methods, the researcher employed purposive sampling. The study used both primary and secondary sources of data. Interviews, key informant semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions are examples of primary data. Secondary sources of data include document analysis, such as including literature, books, proclamations, reports, published and unpublished data from governmental organizations, different theses, magazines, and newspapers. The data collected from the informants was used thematically. Findings from the study show the problem of human trafficking is the main cause of poverty, lack of economic opportunities, unemployment, lack of skilled manpower, and lack of good governance in the local area. The study identifies the challenges which make antihuman trafficking measures ineffective in their actual practice: incomprehensive coordination, lack of equal wealth among youths, lack of awareness, lack of strong hierarchical control, and lack of commitment. These ideas develop within the analysis of research findings and support the background of the theoretical ground work. This study indicates the need to address these factors that critically challenge the effectiveness of anti-human trafficking measures and their practical implementation. The recommendation forwarded by the researcher to the concerned body with regard to the measures of anti-human trafficking in West Armachiho Woreda was to identify stakeholders and their respective roles in combating and eradicating the problem. Extensive public awareness activities should be required and carried out in the study area, building the ability of law enforcement and other government agencies to: prevent human trafficking; develop custom-fit strategies to combat human trafficking along with a national plan of action; establish anti-human trafficking clubs in the school and in the community to fight human trafficking; and establish good cooperation with different stakeholders.
