dc.description.abstract With the rapid evolution of the wireless technology feature and because the existing 4G networks will be unable to satisfy the ambitious key requirements for future wireless networks, it has strived to the development of a network to 5G, which improved high mobility issues, lower latency, higher reliability, efficient energy consumption and higher data rate with minimum cost. The more advanced the wireless communication technology and increased scope of the radio network will make the more complex radio network planning, so special care must be given to nominal and detailed capacity and coverage planning and optimization of the 5G radio network before deployment. In 5G radio network dimensioning (RND), coverage and capacity prediction, and Quality of Service (QoS) are the main things that should be considered. This thesis is mainly focused on the coverage prediction of Arada Sub-city at Addis Ababa, concerning Synchronization Signal Reference Signal Received Power (SS-RSRP), Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio (SINR), Capacity Analysis, and Quality of services in the given target area. The impact of such basic requirements was established using mathematical analysis and Radio Network Planning (RNP) tool, call Atoll (Version 3.4.0) simulation, using this simulation, the thesis paper tries to reveal 5G radio network coverage and capacity planning within the target area of Arada Sub-city. In addition to this, it comprises the evaluation of the propagation model using Matlab simulation, and final numbers of gNBs are declared. Coverage perspective the final number of gNBs is 58, capacity-based 62 and 66 in both DL and UL respectively, but after ACP optimization the numbers of gNBs in the proposed target area are 58. as a result, in the current working LTE network,94.3% of the target area that was covered by ≤ 10 dB is improved to 100% with a signal quality of ≥ 10dB in 5G NR, and also 69.31% of the target area that was covered by ≥ -95dBm is improved to 100% with coverage performance of ≥ -95dBm in 5G NR. In addition, as per the Techno-Economic Analysis result, the implemented 5G NR network is feasible. Keywords: - 5G, RNP, Coverage, Capacity, QoS, RND, Nominal planning, Detail Planning, gNB, SS-RSRP, SINR, ACP, and Atoll. en_US
