Introduction Traditional bone setting is a practice of treating musculoskeletal disorders by untrained persons rely on manual physical assessment and their main principles are manipulation and immobilization by applying traditional appliances (bamboo), the major contributing factors to the complications caused by this practice. Traditional bone setters are non-orthopedic care practitioners who have no medical background or training course. Individuals visiting the traditional bone setting cut across all social strata of the society. This issue is not an exception among health workers. We were also witnessed health workers use of traditional bone setters for themselves or to their family. But studies are lacking in our set up about knowledge and attitude of health workers about traditional bone setting. Objective: This study is done to assess knowledge and attitude and associated factors about traditional bone setting among health workers in Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital. Methods and Materials: The study was conducted using institutional based cross sectional study design in Tibebe Ghion Specialized Hospital from March to April 2022 GC. Two hundred four (204) participants were involved after selected by stratified random sampling technique and data were collected using structured questionnaire. After data was coded, entered and analyzed using SPSS software, multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify factors associated with dependent variables. . Result: Out of 204 participants, 85 (41.7%) scored greater than the 50% knowledge score [ > 9] defined as having good knowledge. 171 participants (83.8%) knew about traditional bone setting practice at their locality and 110 (54%) of the participants got informed about traditional bone setting from their family. Age had significant association with knowledge status. Health care workers with the age range of 24 – 28 years are 96.6% less likely and those with 29 – 33 age range are 94.8% less likely to have good knowledge score about traditional bone setting practice than those with 34 years and above age range group [adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 0.0340, CI (.003, .332), p = 0.004 ] and [ AOR =0.052 ,CI (.005, .495) , p = 0.010 ] , respectively. Among the participants, 187(91.7%) have scored below 50% of the overall attitude score [<4] defined as having negative attitude. 127(73.4%) of participants thought that TBS practice cause more harm than good. More than half want the government should ban them from practice. And male gender has statistically significant association with good attitude status [AOR = 6.286, CI (1.372, 28.803) and p = 0.018]. Conclusion: health workers in Tibebe Ghion Specialized referral hospital have poor Knowledge and negative attitude status about traditional bone setting practice. Age has an association with poor knowledge status and male gender is an associated factor for positive attitude score.
