The general objective of the study was to investigate the effect of Awi traditional dance on selected health related fitness components of students in Ajis secondary school. The study used qualitative research approach and quasi-experimental design was employed. The study was followed purposive sampling technique and sample size of this study was containing 25 male and 25 female selected students between the ages of 16_20years from total population of 2450 who were grade 9-12 students .applying training program plan for a period of 12 weeks and 3 days per week for 40_60minutes each day. The select subjects were divided into 5 equal groups (n=10) CG and (n=40) EG and each EG had (n=10). EG who performed in 3 days/week for 3-month program of four traditional dances of Awi were (Awdedi. gurgimshah, gusim and gudiba).and CG did not perform this training. The data was collected by using pre and Post-test results of the selected students. The selected health related physical fitness components were cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance and Muscular strength. This fitness tests have 3 test batteries (Trunk lift, step up, and site up test). Raw data was statically analyzed by SPSS (version 20 Pre and post-test measurements were taken from all subjects before and after the experimentation. The significance level was fixed at 0.05 following the 12weeks Awi traditional dance training significance change was absorbed on Cardio vascular endurance, Muscular endurance, and muscular strength. According to analyzed data the mean difference value After 12 week’s Awi cultural dance cardiovascular performance by Awdede5.2, Gudeb 8.2, Gusim 6.8, Gurgm shah 4.9 step up test mean difference was recorded. Muscular endurance exercise by Awdedi 3.9, Gudeba 6.7,Gusim 6.9,Gurgm shah 4 sit up mean difference incrementere observed .Muscular strength exercise by Awdedi 1Gudeba 1 Gusim 1.1 gurgumshah1.2 trunk lift test mean difference was recorded. The result of this study indicated that there were significance improvement in CVE, ME, and MS Based on this finding, it can be concluded that Awi cultural dance has positive effect on improvement of cardiovascular endurance, muscular endurance and muscular strength.
