Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to investigate the practice challenges and prospects of U-17 male
football projects in the Bahir Dar city administration. The subjects in this study were 30(100%)
project players that are called the Federal project which launched ,regulated and supported by
the governmental sector of Youth and Sport Bureau. 1(100%) coach of the project center
2(100%) stakeholders and 2(100%) key informants. The research design was a descriptive
survey design. The researcher used the purposive sampling technique. As a method of data
gathering tools; a questionnaire, interview, and observational checklist were employed. To
analyze the collected data, both qualitative and quantitative methods such as descriptive
statements and percentages, were in use respectively. The result of the study revealed that
According to the players, coach, stakeholders key-informants, responses, and observation, the
following major problems are dominant in the study area, the poor practice of continuous support,
follow-up, and supervision from the owner of the project center, lack of cooperation among the other
relevant stakeholders and The preparation of well organized and strengthened plan the availability of
sufficient equipment, and the quality of the playing field, a lack of human resources and lack of
allocating sufficient budget for the project, a lack of cooperation with clubs for the
transformation youths to the clubs. As a general, solution to the identified challenge, greater emphasis
has to be given to the youth football project in the area so that it could be possible to recruit future elite
players shortly.
