dc.description.abstract Background In Ethiopia, there are high maternal and perinatal mortality, and a shortage of human resource is a contributing factor. To improve the health-seeking behavior of the women, the government of Ethiopia has been launched a health extension and Women’s Health Development Army program. These initiatives initiated by intending to identify pregnant women and by encouraging them to link with healthcare system. However, their contribution to skill delivery service utilization is not well known. Methods: A mixed method community-based cross-sectional study was employed from March 7 to 22, 2020. Among 690 mothers who gave birth within one year before, data were collected by using interviewer adminstred structured questionnaire. Multi-stage sampling technique was used to select the study participants. Data were entered in Epi info and then exported to SPSS for cleaning and analysis. Bivariable logistic regression with 95% CI run and select candidate variables for multivariable logistic regression at p-value 0.25. Multivariable logistic regression was used to identify predictor variable at p-value 0.05, 95 CI. Model fitness of the final model was tested by Hosmer-Lemeshow. Results: This study indicated that prevalence of skill delivery service utilization was 41.6% (95 % CI: 38-45.2). Mother participating in pregnancy health conferences (AOR=2.26, 95 % CI: 1.54-3.31), mother live at a distance of greater than two hour from health facility (AOR=5.39, 95 % CI: 2.23-13.05), mothers aged 15 – 24years (AOR=4.45, 95 % CI: 2.28-8.69), 25- 29 years (AOR=2.62, 95 % CI: 1.5-4.59) and 30 - 34 years (AOR=1.45, 95 % CI: 1.23-2.54), being in middle and rich wealth status (AOR=2.14, 95 % CI: 1.36-3.38) and (AOR=2.68, 95 % CI: 1.7-4.22) respectively , women with one parity (AOR=4.43, 95 % CI: 2.27-8.65) had positive association with skill delivery service utilization. Conclusion: Skill delivery service utilization was low in the study area. Women participation in pregnancy health conference, live at far distance from health facility, younger age group, women who found in middle and rich families, and one parity were factors positively affect skill delivery service utilization. Intervention designed by health sectors to improve skill delivery service utilization should consider the identified factors Keywords: Skill delivery, Yilmana Densa District, women health developmental army en_US
