Abstract:
Background: Venous thromboembolism is the third most common cause of vascular mortality worldwide and comprises deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Pulmonary embolism has been called “the leading cause of preventable death in hospitalized patients” often has concomitant DVT. Venous thromboembolism is a multifactorial disease. There is no uniform clinical characterstis of venous thromboembolism and outcomes vary in different parts of the world. There is scarce information about outcomes of venous thromboembolism and clinical characteristics in Ethiopia.
