The physical, chemical, and biological aspects that govern the usage of water for household purposes make up water quality. The poor quality of drinking water leads to water related diseases. The study was carried out to assess drinking water quality supply system of Dembecha town at the source and point-of-use. Totally 108 water samples were collected from different sources and households (point-of-use) dry and rainy seasons from two boreholes, a reservoir, and 24 water taps in the distribution systems. between April 2021 and August 2021. The pH, Turbidity, Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Electrical Conductivity (EC), Nitrate, Total Hardness, Calcium and Magnesium Hardness, and Microbiological parameters (Total Coliform Fecal Coliform e coli/ measured in colony forming units CFU) of the samples were determined using the standard methods of analysis. In addition, the determinations of total coliform and E.coli counts by waterscope device were compared to a conventional method of using aquaflex. Both methods provided a correlated data but the former protocol predicts more than the aquaflex for total and other coliforms. The results of all the water samples were between 20ºC to24.8ºC temperature, 7.05 to 8.115 pH, 1.3 to 5.445NTU turbidity is high due to repair of reservoir the water disturbance, 171.9 to 334.2 µs/cm electric conductivity chemicals residual chlorine without boreholes, 0.56 to 3.046 mg/l nitrate, 32 to 71.6 mg/l calcium as hardness (calcium carbonate), 9 to 24.3 mg/l, in the dry season. In summer 12.05 to 18 o c, pH 7.05 to 8.11, turbidity 0.17 to5.45, conductivity171.9 to337.75, TDS 176.8 to199.1chemicals residual chlorine 0.013to 0.237, nitrate 0.563 to3.047calcium as hardness32to 71.67, magnesium 9 to24.3,total hardness25 to45mg/l. The result shows that some of the tap water samples were further contaminated as they recharged from reservoir indicating that the water supply system of Dembecha town lacks proper treatment process. Regarding bacteriological quality, in all the system boreholes, reservoir and tap water samples, bacterial coliforms are detected that the water supply system needs treatment activity like increasing chlorine dosage.
